Kumari Sinayake

Kumari Sinayake was one of the girls at the Salvation Army Girls' Home, Sri Lanka. Thirty three years ago, she came to Singapore to work for a doctor and his family. Now after all these years working for the same family, it is time to return to her homeland where she has no relatives.

It's wonderful The Salvation Army in Sri Lanka very kindly arranged for her to be a resident of The Salvation Army Eventide Home in Dehiwela where she will be cared for in her retirement.

Her own homeland will be a strange land to her but she has no choice. She is not a citizen or permanent resident here and at her age the Government will not renew her work permit.

Last Sunday she attended our church for the last time to bid farewell to folk here. The previous week she was in Balestier to farewell.

God bless Kumari as she leaves us soon for home. The Salvation Army looked after her when she was young, and now in her old age she will live the rest of her life in The Army's Eventide Home.

I've been thinking of the song - "This world is not my home" We are here on this earth, but our home is in heaven and one day we shall join the ransomed in Heaven.

This World Is Not My Home

  1. This world is not my home I'm just passing through
my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

  2. They're all expecting me and that's one thing I know
my savior pardoned me and now I onward go
I know He'll take me through though I am weak and poor
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore

  3. Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally
the Saints on every hand are shouting victory
their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
O Lord you know I have no friend like you
if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do?
the angels beckon me from Heaven's open door
and I can't feel at home in this world anymore
