Call to Prayer - 2013 High Council

We were privileged to join our brothers and sisters in Christ at the Global Prayer meeting held at our Territorial Hqrs chapel at Bishan this morning. For the first part of the meeting, we concentrated on the main topic - The High Council

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." Ephesians 6: 18

We are called to prayer - always.
We are called to pray for all the Lord's people
We are called to pray for our leaders.

"Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust." Acts 14: 23

With Paul and Barnabas as our example
We are calling The Salvation Army
To unite in prayer and fasting, as our leaders
Meet to elect the next General of
The Salvation Army, trusting God for
A Spirit-led High Council.

Pray for each of the 117 members of the High Council (see list at: http//www.salvationarmy,org/ihq/highcouncil2013members)

Pray for the Chief of the Staff, Commissisoner Andre Cox as he oversees the opening of the High Council.

Pray for the President and Vice-President of the High Council, as they take on the responsibility of leading the nominations and election of the next General of The Salvation Army.

Pray for an election led by the Holy Spirit.

Pray for unity.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.  Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3: 15-17
