My wife and I were privileged to attend the Pioneer Generation Tribute held at the Istana on Sunday. The Prime Minister Mr. Lee Hsien Loong was the Guest of Honour.
From 1973 - 1982 I served as the General Secretary of The Salvation Army in Singapore and Malaysia. I represented The Salvation Army at the National Council of Churches of Singapore and at one time was the President of the National Council. My wife served in the Women's Committee.
It was in this capacity that we were invited to this gathering at the Istana. We attended in our Salvation Army uniform.
It was a real pleasure to meet so many old friends we have not seen for many years.
